Esther Belin is an artist and poet. Her latest work combines installation with the written text. Belin is in constant dialogue with the burdened and fleshy word "Indian" and the interplay is manifested in her work.
Belin graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Antioch University in Los Angeles. In 2000, she won the American Book Award for her first book of poetry, From the Belly of My Beauty. Belin emerges from the Diné nation which is enveloped inside of the southwestern United States. She lives in Durango, Colorado with her four daughters and husband.
