Annual Music Events

Regional high school choirs are invited to participate in our annual Honor Choir held during the fall term.  During this event each choir attends clinics provided by choral faculty.  The high school choir directors select individual soloists to perform along with Fort Lewis College voice students at an afternoon recital. The high school choirs and the Fort Lewis College choirs perform individually and together at an evening concert.

The Jazz Festival is held during the winter term. During this two day festival high school and junior high school jazz bands and combos perform throughout the day. The ensembles are critiqued by three judges and compete for the chance to perform during the evening concert in conjunction with the Fort Lewis College Jazz Ensemble and guest soloist.

Select Band Clinic, for which high school musicians audition to participate, is a two day festival filled with master classes and concerts culminating in an evening performance by three large band ensembles.  The top Select Wind Ensemble is led by a guest conductor while the remaining two groups are conducted by our own faculty.

Honor String Orchestra Festival We host over 100 Senior High School and Middle/Junior High School string students at an all day festival filled with clinics and rehearsals. They get together for an evening concert featuring tour college string ensembles, the combined High School students, and the combined Middle/Junior High School students.
