Program Director Dr. Les Sommerville works with research trainee Nellie McLean.
The Minority Access to Research Careers – Undergraduate Student Training in Academic Research Program (MARC U*STAR) at Fort Lewis College is funded by a research training grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, one of the National Institutes of Health.
MARC U*STAR prepares Native American, African American, Hispanic, and Pacific Islander students majoring in scientific disciplines to
pursue Ph.D.s and long term careers in
biomedical or behavioral science research.
There are two ways for students to participate in the MARC U*STAR — the Research Trainee Program (for Juniors and Seniors) and the
Pre-Trainee Program (for Freshmen and
Sophomores).
