Computer Science Information Systems

The Fort Lewis College Computer Science Information Systems department has been discontinued and all related majors and minors will be phased out at the end of the academic year 2011-12.

Computing affects nearly every aspect of our lives today. At this moment, you are interacting with a complex computing system: the Internet. But, consider the other computing devices that you interact with everyday: cell phones, iPods, video games, microwave ovens, DVD players, even your car.

The Computer Science and Information Systems program offers:
  • Small classes taught by experienced faculty instead of graduate students
  • Lab-based classes that stress hands-on experiences grounded in theory
  • An emphasis on collaborative learning
  • Extensive student-faculty interaction
  • Undergraduate research opportunities
We pride ourselves on providing graduates with the skills to succeed in both industry and graduate school. Recent graduates have been employed by small, local companies such as Brainstorm Internet or Mercury Payment Systems, and by large multinational firms such as IBM and BP. Others have pursued graduate studies at universities including the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Colorado.
